( it's sometime in the afternoon that jon taps down there on the balcony, donned in his red and blue superboy costume, and makes his way inside the apartment clark has for himself here in the building. granted, given where he was, he could have just made his way back up through the hallways, but. he'd decided to go explore a little around etraya before heading back.
tapping his sneakers against the side of the balcony to make sure he doesn't bring any dirt in with him, he closes the glass door behind him and wanders through the place, beelining it for the kitchen to see if there's a snack available. )
[Clark walks out of the larger bedroom, more or less finished putting away his newly acquired stuff. It's close enough for now, anyway. There's not all that much, but even getting set up in a new place after being interdimensionally transported against his will does take some time.]
Just tidying up. You been doing some exploring?
[He's not even a little surprised that Jon didn't come in the front door of the apartment. Clark probably wouldn't, either.]
( Ring, ring, Clark Kent, this is your girlfriend calling. Only she gets to be called dailyplanet everywhere because there's no separate cell network and you also don't have a separate cellphone. )
( Lois sits down on the chair, one leg tucked up beneath her as she looks over to Clark. )
There went our summer, huh?
( She'd been reading the older entries, before Aurora was using anything like a calendar. Now they're almost halfway in September when it should be early July.
These aren't even relevant details. What Aurora said was coming is, and while part of her is glad the psychosis threat isn't happening with the additional concern of superpsychosis... and that is not small. Not having to worry about him or Jon like that. )
Penny for your thoughts?
( She reaches into her pocket, leaning back so she can finangle out an oval of a squished penny with Mt. Rushmore pressed into it. She'd found it in one of the stores around Etraya a few days ago. Kept it for the weird novelty. Now she's holding it out to Clark as an invitation. )
[That actually gets half a laugh, which speaks to both the absurdity of the calendar situation and Clark's affection for Lois, considering his mood does not otherwise lend itself to humor at all.]
My thoughts?
[He takes the penny, but he doesn't look happy. Apparently a penny is only good for honesty, not false cheer. That's fine though, he knows she doesn't want that.]
[A little bird has told Illyana something interesting - that is, a certain superhero is now cooking at NYX. Sure, she can cook for herself, unlike Sophie, but... If she doesn't have to...
So Illyana waits until his shift, sneaking into the kitchen through the back door. For once, she's not wearing her whole spiky goth get up. Today it's just a t-shirt that helpfully says "Cyclops Was Right" and some torn up black jeans. Her stealth isn't magically assisted, so it'll likely fail completely with that super hearing of his, but she still lets out her most dramatic:]
( maybe going home — back to the apartments — isn't the best idea when he's in his emotions like he is, but. he doesn't know where else to go — doesn't know what to do and so he flies through the sky, eyes watery and body trembling until he sees the building that has become so familiar to him since his arrival here. no, it's not really home, but it's something close enough to it for him here in etraya.
his arrival is an almost literal whirlwind in the way he comes through the open balcony door. furniture slides across the floor, books and magazines fly off tables and bookcases, a model he'd been working on crashes and shatters. if it weren't for the sound of red sneakers quickly tapping against the floors, one would think a sudden squall tore through the apartment.
it's his room he runs to and the moment he goes to slam the door shut behind him, it breaks right off the hinges from the kryptonian strength that comes with being uncontrolled, splintering in half the second it hits a wall. a few things fly across his room from the aftershocks of his strength with the door and he curls his small hands into fists at his sides as he stands there in his upset and anger until he can't anymore and drops down to his knees.
and he remains there in the center of his heartache, on hands and knees, quietly sobbing to himself. )
[The sudden arrival is too fast for even Clark to track, occupied as he is with folding some laundry in his and Lois' room — which seemed liked an absolutely ridiculous activity in the aftermath of Aurora's announcement, but he'd needed to do something non-destructive with his hands — but it doesn't really matter.
He knows that sound. He's been that sound, not lately, but not so far in the past he can't recall what it was like.
Clark finishes with the shirt in his hand — Lois likes that one, he'd hate to leave it wrinkled for her — and walks quietly into the living room and then into Jon's room, carefully easing the broken door out of the way. He crouches carefully, puts a hand on Jon's way too small shoulder. Doesn't say anything. He's here.]
[ After this conversation ends and the rest of the details are worked out, a box arrives at Che Super Kent. Inside are five bracelets & a single note reading: One for each of your family members, and Hernan's plus one. They'll emit light night or day while we're away. If any of them have already requested & received one, please pass it on to someone who doesn't have one yet. ~ Batgirl
She can ignore the pinch of not just putting the Oracle symbol at the end instead. After all, it's not like he can tell in the slightest. ) ]
